Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - What should I ask for a 70s Atala Giro D'Italia?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I just got a Giro D'Italia from a bike shop in the area and was thinking about fixing it up. I have a couple of questions here - Is it worth trying to resell? If I do want to try to resell it, what should I ask for it? It's got weinmann center-pull brakes, but no campy components. It's blue, the downtube decal is in good shape, but the seatpost decal is pretty shredded. There's some scrapes on the paint but no rusting on the frame - a bit on the front fork where the paint meets the chromed tips.

Is it plausible that I could get two or three hundred bucks for this thing? Or am I better off just cleaning it up and riding it around? I got on it for a test drive and really like the geometry of it...

No.

Yes.
The Giro was second or third from the bottom of the Atala food chain. I've been riding one since 1973 or thereabouts. IIWM, I'd swap out the cottered cranks and Simplex DRs and ride it as it sits.

That was kind of my guess after looking at that scan of the ad for the '73 Atala line. I didn't assume it would be in high demand, I just wanted to doublecheck. I'm totally gonna ride it, then-- it feels great and it looks really cool. A friend of mine is a graphic designer - I'm gonna see if she can photoshop a new decal for me, prob. touch up the paint, ditch the derailleurs, etc... :D

No. Maybe two or three bottles of Cinzano Rosso.
