My husband, Wayne and I are in our 50's - early 60's and began riding regularly about 25 years ago after a marathon cured me of the need to run, due to a bad knee. The friction shift mountain bike I started with led to more serious road bikes and in '93 we had a tandem built for us by Bill Holland of "Holland Cycles" in San Diego. The tandem became the tool of choice for longer tours and we've shipped it to distant destinations, such as Vermont and New Zealand, Oregon, as well as up and down the West Coast etc.

Unfortunatly our love of speed has led to the purchase of motorcycles over the past decade and our cycling conditioning has suffered ever since. We both still ride but are often torn between the two venues. I guess anything on 2 wheels is great as it still allows us to get outside and take in the beautiful scenery.

We live on the Central Coast (Atascadero, CA) and have been spoiled with the beautiful backroads for riding. We ride every other day anywhere from 25-50 miles....more in the spring/summer months.
We're looking forward to meeting other people to learn from and share our love of cycling with.

Sorry to hear that. You know the cure for that is to sell the motorcycles. ;)
