when i go off ramps to flats my front tire dives an hits first. which makes for tough landings, the only thing i have found that helps is to push my weight as for back as possible, which is still akward landing but more of a level one. i noticed another guy going off the same ramp with no problems at all, he had a fox air fork i have a cheap heavy coil spring fork. could it be the weight of my heavy fork pulling the front end down or is it just bad technique ?

It's technique...

Learning to bunny hop (even really low hops) will improve your launch timing.

A small manual along with soft knees will help with all that. Lean back.

you need some chickens to jump over to cushion the landing.

Just keep doing the jumps over and over and have fun, you will be real smooth before you know it.

lean back and tap the rear brake to drop the back wheel

Tapping the rear brake mid-air causes a pitch forward.
