perhaps on what year this bike is? check out the photos, can anyone tell me more about this frame? what it might be worth? it is made from columbus KL tubing, has campagnolo dropouts, stamped Cinelli under the bottom bracket shell. super light, im pretty sure it has been powdercoated due to the metallic purple paint
thanks yall

I'm moving this to the valuation sub-forum.

It's not a Cinelli Pista.

never seen those seat stay caps before.

I agree it's not a Cinelli. Cinelli is a big company, and they sold frame parts to anyone with money. It's kind of a mystery to me why companies put their name on those parts like that.

Interesting looking frame, except for the front fork, even if it's not a Cinelli.

I'd like to see a close up of those seat stay caps myself.

not a cinelli huh? weird, is there any way to tell what this bike is? I will get a photo of that seat stay a little later...does anyone have any guesses though of when this is from?

Yeah, I had a Melton frame with a Cinelli BB.... it seems a bit misleading but pretty common.

Not sure why it's misleading: it's a genuine Cinelli bottom bracket shell.

I don't mean misleading on the manufacturer/advertiser side. I guess I meant that some people probably look at that as a frame manufacturer mark... not a wrong doing or anything.

Gotcha. You're right - as a "clue" it often leads folks down the wrong path.

That is a better way of saying it. Effective speech is not one of my strong points.

thanks everyone, I am still very intrigued by this bicycle. My guess is that it is of pretty good quality due to the cinelli bottom bracket shell, campy dropouts, and columbus KL tubing, which I was told was quite high grade. am I correct in this assumption of the overall quality of this bike?

This is the problem with re-paints.... I'm afraid that the recent fascination with powdercoating and "customization" is going to result in many, many "what is this bike" threads in the near future.

It's only original once.

yeah that is an issue, it is rather unfortunate, but on the fortunate side I cleaned off the dumbass stickers that were placed all over it, and got some more proper photos, somebody with your godly knowlege tell me what I got!

It doesn't look that finely done, look at the inelegant attachment of the rear dropout to the stays. I'm wondering if those weren't brazed in after? I would think that the head tube angle would be a bit steeper on a true track frame, too.

I am not an expert, and don't know track frames at all, just making some observations based on my limited knowledge.

It would help if you gave a bit more info about the frame. Is the bottom bracket Italian or English? What is the seat tube diameter?

Interesting treatment of the seat stay caps. Can't say I have ever seen that before.

I think I have, and am trying to remember where.

Those seat stay caps are castings. So they are probably on lots of bikes. Possibly only one brand though. I like the bike. The paint job isn't that great. Looks like it may have been a production bike. I don't think it was a road conversion, but it's interesting that they didn't file the dropouts to match the seat stay angle. I think most conversions have a problem in that the campy dropout seatstay attachment comes in too far back to match the seat stays. I think it would be a lot more awkward than it is if it was a conversion.
