Living Car Free - Discount for Environmentaly Friendly Transport

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
When traveling by bike I've run across discounts at B&Bs in Quebec for cyclists. I got a spam e-mail from the House of Sweden here in DC with another discount that should be extended to cyclists but I'm not sure how they verify. Sweaty helmet? Goofy clothes? Weird shoes? What if you're a transportational cyclist in street clothes?
If I try this I'll report on how it works:

I forgot to mention that I don't think they can see, I think it is on the below ground level. If they check at the door they can see the few people who snag bike parking near the entrance. People who take cars need to park out of sight of the door. It might be a ploy just to get people to acknowledge that they have choices some of which a better for quality of life than others. I thought you guys who are always talking local, organic would like to see the advert- the cafe seems to advocate what you guys do- buy local, buy organic, don't use private automobile.

It is good that they're willing to consult their consciences while they're also making a buck. I make it a point to patronize businesses like that whenever I can.

They look for the telltale signs: 1)perspiration 2)tasteless yellow dayglo jackets 3)helmets 4) panniers 5) jeans bound at the ankle by elastic banks ... that sort of thing.
Every day I hear of another great eco-friendly thing being promoted by someone, somewhere. Today I heard that one Iowa county (very rural...) just banned non-biodegradable (ie, plastic) bags at grocery stores.
In Madison and other cities, they have a "Biker Benefits" program. Not run by the cities, but you just buy a sticker for your helmet for $5 and different business have discounts for showing your sticker on your helmet. There are even a couple bars that have happy hour pricing all day long with the sticker! I think the website is www.bicyclebenefits.org
