Fifty Plus (50+) - Weather, what weather? I'm riding today!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm just home from the night shift with a nice hot breakfast in me. It's 32 degrees outside but I'm going out for my Maiden Voyage on the Tour Easy anyway. I'll probably only do 20 miles or so, but I'm gong out.

A new bicycle repair shop just opened up about a mile down the road which is very convenient, especially if he stocks parts for sale. I talked with the proprieter for a minute yesterday on my way in to work and he's expecting me this morning. I'll pop in near the end of my ride and have him double check the alignment and adjustment on the front derailleur I just reinstalled on the bike earlier in the week. It's a good way to get to know the guy and also to size up his work quality, if he messes it up I'll just sort it out when I get it home. If he's half decent I'll have a close place to handle any repairs that I don't have time for, or just don't want to deal with.

I hope to update this thread with a brief ride report and shop report later today or tonight.

Golly, I hope you stay warm, CO Dude. It's a little cool here now too, about 68 degrees. I'm going to go out and clean the pool and then do a 25-miler later, and then a few laps in the pool to cool down. Got to break out the sunscreen, too. It's been getting a bit toasty lately. Lying around in the hammock after a ride is a great way to relax.

I'm back and yes, I stayed warm....kinda-sorta.

It was a great 24 mile ride, the first real ride I've taken on this bike. The temps had climbed all the way up to 40F by 08:30 so it wasn't too bad out there. The bike performed quite well and I did notice that I seem to move at a slightly quicker pace on this bike than I do on the Volae and the Easy Sport.

I cut diagonally across Greece, like I almost always do, to the head of the 390 Bike Trail. As you'll notice in the picture below, the stimulous money seems to be working.

How about those beautiful blue skies? We don't get that here very often, although this has been a good year. At the construction project I headed North. I found the wind. It's a cold Canadian wind coming right off the Lake and it's blowing right in my face. I stopped about five miles later in this park. I think I'll leave these ramps and jumps for younger bones on smaller bikes.

Five miles later and I'm finally turning to the East and much easier peddaling. As you can see, Lake Ontario is gorgeous today...

Two or three easy miles later and I'm at Charlotte Beach Park, me and about three other people. In about 10 more weeks this Bath House and Boardwalk will be swarming with bathers. Untill then, it's all mine.

Heading home now, the final few miles. The Swans are nesting out on the Genesee River already.

24 miles and I'm home. It was a great ride on a great bike and I have no buyer's remorse at all.

As far as the bike repair shop is concerned, though he promised he'ld be open today he was a "no-show". This is three times in four visits that his shop has been empty and locked during his posted business hours. All four visits were this week. I don't believe this kid is going to survive. Too bad too, because as you can see by the picture of my right hand...

How in the world can you have such weather and get in a decent ride living where you live and here in Southern Colorado it's snowing!!:notamused: Nice write up, this is the kinda thing I'd like to see more of in the "Recreational" topic area. Well it's supposed to be nice here on Monday if we don't get too much SNOW over Fri-Sat maybe I can give out a report too, glad you go to ride, sweet looking machine, although if I could ever afford a bent, I'd get a trike style for myself:love: Thanks for taking us along!:D
