Hi All--

New to the world of ss. Looking to simplify. Live in STL, MO. Looking for used ss for commute to work. 56cm, 700c. Any advice on where to look? Tried ebay, not much there. All help much appreciated. Can send email to whtwatr@msn.com. Peace..........Chris

Thrift stores, DAV, Salvation army, garage sales. Look for horizontal drops, most of your 70's and 80's road and mountain bikes have horizontal or semi dropouts. You can redish the rear wheel, remove the derailers, and add a freewheel or spacers to most bikes and be ok for singlespeed. A coaster brake might be good for commuting if you could get a wheel built up on the cheap.

They do from time to time. Not many though. You have to keep checking on the site as they aren't very good about notifying you of any for sale even though you tell them that you are ready to by if one becomes available. At least that has been my experience with them. They do have plenty of road bikes worthy of conversion though.
