Northern California - Need advice on 30-40 mile route in Redding

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So, I'm going to be in Redding, CA Wednesday and would like to get in a 30-40 mile training ride.
Anyone have some routes they could recommend?
Thanks,
Mike
I don't know of any BFers from Redding, but you might try local bike shops or clubs?
I know that CA 36 is very popular with the sports car and motorcycle crowd, so it's probably twisty and scenic. Any of the small roads in the foothills should be nice. If you have time, Lassen Volcanic National Park is really nice and only about 50 miles away- this is a popular destination with road bikers. Check with the park to make sure the roads are open, though.

There are quite a few listed on bikely.com or mapmyride if you look up redding. Most are outside of redding by about 10-15 miles.

Discovering some routes here in Chico over the last year.
"Fast 50" is tonight, and classic 10 mile TT tomorrow, google Chico Cyclist; Rodney rules!
Google Chico Velo for maps of standard routes here in Chico.
I don't know Redding - would take mtn bike if going there, however... pm me if you like, I roll 4-7 times a week, but am't "fast."

Hwy 299 to Eureka. Start in Redding near Starbucks and ride to the lake. I don't know if that's 20 - 30 miles but it's got hills.
