Introductions - Hello all from southern cal...need help on bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am currently beginning to start training for a sprint tri, I am completely out of shape due mostly to an injury I suffered kickboxing 3 years ago...and of course my laziness and bad eating habits. I am in the process of buying an entry level bike to start my training. These are the two bikes I am currently looking at that are in my price range, I know nothing about cycling so I thought I would really appreciate any help in deciding which is a better value. I am 6' tall about 265lbs. Also, any training tips would be greatly appreciated thanks

Hello
I am not sure how often peopel visit the intoduction thread, me for sure do it approx three times a year! Therefor I suggest you post your question in one of the forums where there is more "traffic". Try to read them and find out what sort of riding peopel do, and post in the forum where you think you belong. I could suggest General cykeling, Road or maybe clydde if you are terribly out of shape. Best wishes.
Hi,
All of my aluminum bikes have cracked usually after 3 yrs of hard use. (ex messenger) I'm 6' 180 - 190 lbs depending of season. If your looking to have the bike a while then go for a steel ride. But if you want to sprint up mountains then aluminum is a good options just look for a good quality builder. If you live in hill terrain then the aluminum will be of benefit otherwise go for steel. gl hf
