My Buddy and I just rode the Greenbrier River trail up and back in 13.5 hours. Started at 6:30am and finished at 8pm without a minute of daylight spared. Two things that make it personally gratifying. 1. Niether of us had ridden over 73 miles and averaged 14.5 mph not including periodic stops, 2. Did it on a 5 year old Raliegh Hybrid that was sized for my 5'5 wife, Im 6 feet. The trail was amazing. Tight crushed limestone, water pumps to fill the camelbacks, only a 700 feet elevation from the southern tip to the northern tip, and tunnels and bridges on the way. River and backdrop provide calendar worthy photos for the entire 77.5 miles. Back hurts but worth the pain. If you haven't ridden this piece of heaven, do yourself a favor. Can anyone recommend a nice long scenic trail ride?

congrats! that's quite the jump in distance, but you made it. awesome.

i know they say any bike makes a good LD bike, but damn you did it on a bike that doesn't fit you?! that's impressive, but probably not good for you (or your back) in the long run.

whereabouts is the greenbrier river trail?

I want to do the C&O Canal in one day (185 miles). I've done the whole thing before, but in 3 days.
