Or, Fremont, as other Seattleites call it.
Anyway, after not having ridden a bike since I was about 14 years old, I was in Beijing last June and found myself using a bike as the best way to get around the city (and destroy your lungs with pollution, but that's another story). And it was awesome. Then when I got back to the States, I was visiting a friend in Milwaukee, and we went on a midnight bike ride around the city. And it was awesome.
So, obviously, I had to come home and buy myself a bike.
I just got an old early 1970s Nishiki Kokusai, off of Craigslist. Its in good enough shape, and I'm looking forward to working on it, and maybe making it as beautiful as some of those other bikes in the Classic and Vintage forum.
Basically, first up is swapping the stem shifters for downtube shifters, throwing some new tires on there, hopefully getting the stem which has frozen into the fork out and putting in a longer one, and then seeing where I can go from there...
It should be fun.
