Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Spam

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
No, I don't mean that wonderful canned meat product; I mean stupidity. I received a spam PM from someone and I see the user profile is banned, which is good, but is there a way to prevent getting unsolicited PMs from BRAND NEW members? :crash:
Forward the Spam PM to a moderator or an admin and we'll take care of them.
As far as blocking PMs from new members, I'm not sure. Tom Stormcrow may be able to answer that.

As the software is set up right now, you can block PM's from anyone not on your contact list, except Admins. We can PM anyone, anytime regardless of preferences set.
Ok, thanks for the info. Should I still forward this spam on when the user is already banned? I assume (perhaps wrongly) he spammed several users and was caught, thus the ban.
Na, he's banned.
If you get another though, forward it to a blue star and someone will take care of them.
