It all sarted thursday night when I drank the first bottle of my homemade cider. It wasn't amazing, but I never expected my first attempt at making alcohol to yeild drinkable, let alone semi-enjoyable results. It tasted a lot like the cider we got in france; unclarified, champaign-like, and a little yeasty. But the best part is that I don't have to pay alcohol tax anymore or support companies who use fish parts in the clarifying process (~75% of all beer and cider companies do this). On saturday I worked in the community garden my friends and I are building. A good day of manual labor always makes you feel more alive when you usually work in a building all day.

And to top it all off (here is where it becomes relevent to this forum), on sunday night I beat my girlfriend, who was driving our car, home from our friend's house about three miles away. There weren't any shortcuts so I took the same path she did. Luckily there wasn't much traffic so I bombed through three lights that she got caught at. We played cat and mouse most of the way but I got a lucky combination of two reds in a row about 1/2 mile from the house which let me pull away. She told me that if I ever ride like that again, I'd have to wear a helmet or she'd break up with me.

The moral of the story is: drink cider (but do your part to f**k the huge beer companies), plant things (to help people become less dependent on factory farming), and don't watch racing movies right before you get on your bike.

Wow...cider makes you want to do that? Or was it the communal gardening that caused this fervor?

I too was shocked at the "caress the potato, slap the *****" combo. I guess I'll keep being a carnivorous Pabst drinker to keep from becoming a belligerent greenie. :D

funny how other people see things in your words that you never saw yourself. I re-read this post like ten times to assure that no one would be able to draw anything out of it that I didn't intend. I suppose that, once again, I have overestimated the level of sophistication present in this forum. And underestimated the level of stupidity which is created when you put people in front of computers for far too long.

i also partook of some communal gardening this weekend - one of the perks when your girlfriend is doing her master's thesis on community gardens. another perk is more back-porch basil than you can shake a spoke at!

"on sunday night I beat my girlfriend"

At first I was like, woah, here's a bad case for homebrew. Then I read the rest.

Yeah, you win. I liked the parts of your story that weren't political, hence what I pointed out. Maybe I should incorporate politically charged diatribes in my conversations and posts from now on.
Now go harvest me some soybeans, wannabe Luddite. :)

And yet you return. So, you're either A) just as bad or B) can't be normal so you like to be around the adnormal in an effort to feel better.

Personally I like this forum a lot. Intelligence among posters is high and the maturity level is low. The dynamic from smart and helpful to immature and humorous keeps me interested. After all, you can only re-hash "Which color spandex to go with my carbon X-309-A Disintilligrator?" before it needs some humor to break up the monotony...and this forum is a lot funnier than the others.

Sure. Btw, how is that cat of yours? Hair growing back yet? :)

You should see the hairy little bastard.

Well I tried to take a pic. But my cat is a little self conscious.

"Which color spandex to go with my carbon X-309-A Disintilligrator?" They did some wind tunnel testing down in Texas and green was by far the fastest. Of course, it is a few grams heavier than the blue.

I have to say I'm with MKRG. the bit about the level of sophistication was simply a jab at 165. I'm impressed actually, at the wit that flows around these threads. I know I could not partake in some of the comeback wars that go down in here without losing horribly. But I stick to my statement about some people being in front of a computer for way too long.

as for the political stuff, looking back at what I wrote, it seems to be more of an economic nature, if not purely ecological. by calling what I wrote political, you make me think that you're the type of person who believes that communism is the opposite of democracy and capitalism is the opposite of fascism.

but like I said, I enjoy these forums. they keep me awake during my morning job.

artfully dodged...

no, you make you think that way. I could care less about politics...I can't afford them anyway.
