DL33 and I joined Bostic for a modified clockwise Mt Hamilton / Sierra Rd loop. We started at Fremont BART, followed Rt 84 through Niles Canyon and over the recently improved Pigeon Pass to Livermore and Mines Rd. On the way down the west side of Hamilton we took Crothers and rode through Alum Rock Park to Sierra. After descending Felter/Calaveras from the Sierra summit we rode north through Milpitas and Fremont to the BART station. Seeing how Ramon was training for the DMD, Donald and I decided it was only fair to let Ramon take some nice long pulls into the headwinds from Milpitas to Fremont :).

A few pics from the ride-

Some areas along Mines and San Antonio Valley Rd were carpeted with wildflowers:

Those are awesome pics Glenn.

I suppose Donald was at the front, for most of the climbs, now that he's got a compact crank in his arsenal? ;)

Great pictures! It'll be interesting to hear what folks think of Sierra when they hit it after 150 miles or so!

That would be correct. (But in my limited experience riding with him, it was true before the compact too. I think he needs to put on about 25 or 30 pounds :) )

Nice pics Glen and thanks for leading us thru Livermore and up the back side of Hamilton. I got 116 miles and 10050 ft of altitude.
Got a good workout today. I actually felt pretty good all day except for the cold temps coming down the first section of Hamilton and near the top of Sierra, got the chills and cold sweat all of a sudden, had to stop for a minute before continuing.

Nice to see you guys at the Junction today. I rode out there with my wife and a friend from the UK. He made my legs hurt on the way back into the headwind on Mines Road.

Great pictures!

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d195/gw_12/ms3.jpgI was drooling over a flat black Orca in Sharp Bicycles in Lafayette today. I don't think it had 7900 on it, but damn, that's a fine bicycle. (And that's saying something coming from someone usually indifferent to things carbon fibre. :))
