Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - I knew they didn't have a chance

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Well, been about a weekk now and several fun rides and the stock pedals are not feeling up to the challenge. they started creaking and showing fatigue. Was gonna get the upgrade at purchace, but since I got a great deal on the bike I was gonna have to pay full price for the pedal set upgrade so I figured might as well just try the stock set out. needless to say, didn't stand a chance! So I'm off tomorrow to get the upgrades. Saw some nice platforms that i like...

you sure its the pedals? not the cranks? its more usual for cranks to squeak than the pedals but could very well be pedals. just don't want you to go out and blow a load of money for pedals only to have squeaking reappear. read up on sheldon browns page about squeaking;) here

My bike came with some craptastic Wellgo pedals that were plastic on the inside and had a metal band that ran around the outside. I've been procrastinating about changing out the pedals for the ones on my old bike which are all alloy. Yesterday at the Katy Ram Challenge I went to air up my tires at the last rest stop when one of the mechanics says, "He's got the same kind of pedals as that kid, check 'em out." The other mechanic grabs a philleps screwdriver and stats tightening the all the screws holding the outer metal band to the plastic innards. They were all loose.
cool, Ill give it a try, but I also really want the upgrde. So maybe I'm wishfull thinking

ha ha the truth is out! don't get bitten by the upgrade bug cos it will never stop:lol: Seriously, no harm upgrading and it keeps the interest alive so go for it. just don't feel guilty about it:)
No, really just wanted to upgrade the seat and the pedals forom the git go. The rest for me is a non issue. Those were the two parts that I feared. I got the seat the very same day cause I think the racing seat bruised my sit bone. And the the pedals, might jus tneed to tighten the screws on the ones now, but they make me a little nervous. I'd rather feel safe. But the good part is I'm loving the feel of being back on the bike!
