Northeast - NYC Weekday Rides

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I think its closed weekdays only until July.
Again?! So annoying.

Nice riding with you too - thanks for all the info when we got to NJ :D
I went up to Piermont. And yeah, that effin' wind was blowing in my face the entire way there and back. Truthfully the only reason I went all the way up was because I thought it would be fun having a tailwind for a change. FAIL. Oh yeah, and had a blowout (luckily right in front of the bike shop in Piermont) and broke my seat on the way back.
Had to have been the hardest 50 miles I've done in a long, long time. But still a great day to be out!
Some things never change:)

Did the stairs and River Road yesterday. While not bad going to NJ, those stairs seemed a lot steeper after 16 more miles of riding. :-)

My issue with the stairs is they are not road shoe friendly at all. I have a pair of Sidi's and the small rubber heel kept getting caught is the stair grating. Once you get to the NYC side there's the choice of going down the steps or riding against traffic on the ramp. Not fun, but better than nothing.
Just to confuse everyone, they are alternating the closures. Weekends the South side is open. Weekdays the North side is open. Until Mid-July apparently.

Haha - so true! How're you doing laddy!

Not bad. Cleaning up after a day at the beach. In-laws coming to visit in a couple of weeks.

Doing good. I hope to see you tomorrow on the 59 street bridge. I will ride the tour, but not sure what to expect. I have not touched either bike since last year, but have been on the exercise bike at the gym quite a few times over the last several weeks.
Come over, say hi, and don't run into anyone ;)

Any one up for a ride to Piermont on Monday? I need to leave by 11am. Probably straight out on 9W as I read there was another slide on river road and I'm not sure if its passable or not.

I wish I had your schedule because I'd gladly join you. I commuted to work today and was pleasantly surprised to find the south walkway of the GWB open.

I found that out too after riding to the north side first. Is will be open all week, but you have to use the north side on weekdays starting next monday.

Took advantage of the weather and the south walkway being open, and rode with the wife to the Englewood boat basin. RM's snack bar, at the foot of the hill will be reopening this Saturday. Great place to stop for lunch or breakfast. She even does pancakes and french toast! Their hours are 8-5 daily except for Mondays. We then rode back past the bridge on Hudson Terrace to check out the coffee bar at Strictly Bicycles. Then made a stop at Oneil's at the 79th St Boat Basin for burgers and margaritas on the way home. I think I gained weight on this ride.

Let me know when the next "drop the fork" ride will be...

Anyone for a ride to Piermont or Nyack tomorrow morning? I'd like to leave by 10am as I have to pick someone up at the airport in the afternoon. We could meet up at Riverside and 72nd or at the NJ side of the bridge.
