Can a dent be pulled out of the top tube of an aluminum frame road bike? Thanks
Once aluminum has been plastically deformed (deformed to the point where it has a shape different from it's original one) it is a good idea not to try to alter it. Aluminum is a fairly brittle material and you run the risk of fracturing it if you try to deform it again. Plus getting a dent out of any tube on a bike (even steel) would prove to be extremely difficult. If it is merely cosmetic, just learn to live with it. If it is major, it may be time for a new frame. On the bright side, it's always good to have an excuse to buy a new bike right? :)

This happened to my Klein..A small dent on the drive side seat stay..Darndest way for it to happen..Bike was almost brand new.
It was up on the roof rack...Driving down the freeway..The bike backed out of the clamp that secures it to the rack..
When that happened, it fell over the car and the tube hit the side of the roof...
Another down side of roof racks..Hated it..Luckily it is a very small dent. Could have been far worse. The bike was looped to the rack itself.. Now, I secure the bike by using bungie straps, to pull it forward to the frame so it can't fall sideways..That in additon to the built in clamp that I had forgotten to lock.
The small size of the dent, I think did not cause the frame to fatique.
