1980's Custom Built Schwinn - $550

For sale here I offer a custom built late 1980's Women's Schwinn Bicycle. This bicycle is the only one of it's kind ever built and it is in Pristine condition. There are virtually no marks or scratches of any kind. The frame is a 17 inch woman's frame so it is built for a shorter rider. It is a Schwinn Traveler frame in a beautiful custom RED color that is stunning in appearance. This bike features a Shimano 105 deraillur and upgraded rims which are in perfect shape. The tires are original Schwinn Passage VR gumwalls and are also in excellent condition. This bike has almost NO mileage on it whatsoever. Original black GrabOn grips are in great shape and saddle has been replaced as of this year with an updated Avenir Comfy seat which is supremely comfortable. I can take additional pictures of this bicycle or better yet, come and see it for yourself as pictures don't serve the bicycle it's just due. This is an outstanding road bike and buyer will be very pleased with it. Tuned up at Sport's Authority this past summer and ready to ride, just add air. Bike comes with water bottle and pump as well. This is a pick up in Niles, IL and serious buyers ONLY, please. This bicycle was $800 NEW.
I emailed the seller and got the the reason it is so expensive and rare.
Sure... here are a few pictures for you. It's a zip file so open it with winzip or winrar.
This bicycle belonged to my sister and she moved away this past spring. Her and her ex-husband both worked for Schwinn back in the day. I'm not positive but I think this MAY have been a custom built frame as so far as I can recall the 19 inch frame was the smallest, at least in the mens bicycles. I rode one that was a 19 inch frame and the top bar couldn't have been much closer to the bottom where it connected on the neck of the frame.
Hope these pictures help you out!

For sale is the first tall bike I built. I purposely left the frames two different colors so that people could tell how it was built.
the chain needs replaced and the rear tire is flat. other than that it's good to go. I know it'll hold 225 lbs because I used to ride it alot untill i built another one.
I then gave this one to my wife and she rode it around.
I'm getting ready to build her a new one.
give me an offer if you want it and i'll think about it.

If you have a custom frame in mind or want to alter what you already have give me a shout. My work is all over the internet and my bikes have been featured in books and on online magazines. I'm equipped for bending, machine work, welding, and painting.
No photos, no name, no phone number. "Guess which bikes are mine!"

Apparently tired of the hackneyed craigslist replies:
Please read carefully. Up for your consideration is a Yokota Yosemite mountain bike frame made of Tange steel tubing. It has a 1 1/4” (one and one forth inch) headtube. Reducers to 1 1/8” are available but are not included here. The fork is included, but is not useable )bent), so it'll need to be replaced. Also included is the seat post, clamp, 1 ¼” headset and stem as shown. WYSIWYG, nothing more, nothing less. Frame in fair to good condition, no cracks or dents, a few scratches though. This is a big frame, so you should be fairly tall to ride it. I recently picked this up at a local police auction. It is currently being offered "as-is" at substantially less than what I'll have to charge if I have to do all the work on it.
Let's not waste each other's time. If you are reading this listing, it is still available. CASH & LOCAL PICKUP ONLY! Unfortunately, I have to explain that. What it means is that I will not ship it to Africa or anywhere else, nor can your mover stop by with a bogus money order and pick it up. It also means that I will not deliver them to you. Scammers need not inquire, I know one when I see one, so don't even think about it. Have questions? I'll be more than happy to reply to them, I'm just trying to weed out the scammers. Price is fair market value, so if you are not ready willing, or able to shell out the price listed, then please don't bother. I am selling this because I want to, not because I have to, so I don’t care how your Uncle Fred is doing with that Google scam. Emails send that have no interest in buying this item will be ignored. Oh, one more thing, if you have to resort to looking for down-line on craigslist for your home-based MLM, then do me the favor of not inquiring either. Thanks for looking.

Woah, a bicycle called "Moby Grape (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n88kNpC99Q)," it would just have to be an SF thing. At least the seller didn't claim this was Skippy's bike or something!
Edit, this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LM87rI-sR7o) is better. At least Skippy's mike was turned on....

Anyone else have a bike like this..Plastic wheels and all.

This is a great retro town bike from the 70s/ 80’s. it really is unreal. I guarantee you will never see another bike like this anywhere on the streets. My uncle bought this bike back from Germany on the late 70’s from where I do not know and ever since it has been in our garage.
I will quickly run through all of the components on the bike.
The frame of the bike is made from one piece of metal.
The plastic wheels that the bike has take normal tyres and at present have a set of continental tyres on.
The bike is also equipped with dynamo lights. The front still works but the rear needs the cable reattaching.
There is a speed control which is liked to the front wheel however the cable on this also needs attaching.
The front brake is amazing and almost looks like a fighter jet making it a very comfortable ride.
The rear brake works on a continental coaster brake system which means you have to back pedal.
There is a three speed sachs hub.
Comes with a lock attached to the frame so you can secure the bike.

Bling factor for a year. These were well known for rusting quickly into an untruable mess. I don't often say this, but one would be 10 times better off with galvanized by comparison.

Check out the question on this auction. He's not going for a fair market price, he's holding the bike for ransom:
Q: I am in the market for a large frame Bianchi, but you will receive no offers from anyone for this item until you either reduce the starting price to maybe $300 AND add at least six photos showing details and component manufacturer markings. A clear set of frame measurements is a must, as well. See you in the re-list! Nov-13-09
A: The price is not the starting price> ITS NOT A AUCTION ITS A SALE. BEST OFFER so if you want to make a offer? THEN Offer $300.00. If you need more info then ask,And i will for sure help with info. AS I SAY I DONT DO BIKES< THERE WILL NOT BE A RELIST IT WILL GO IN THE SCRAP PILL WITH THE REST of the bikes then into the crusher THANKS

Looking at the photos this appears to be the rare 'rotate-a-seat' Bianchi. Sure looks like it would be an exciting ride. He's also clearly aware of the importance of backgrounds to good photography, the junkyard setting makes me feel much better about the excessive rusting and apparently egg shaped back wheel :-)

Elitist much? I'll give you the bad grammar but I understand exactly what he's selling, what a Kink saddle is, and why it has no brakes. There are more bikes out there than just C&V bikes.

A Fuji Series IV from the Department of Delusional Pricing (http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/bik/1474354429.html). Would be a nice bike at half the price or a bit less.

Seems to me to be at about market value for a touring bike.

I'd agree, cb400bill: the Fuji Series IV are at the top of the touring list with the Miyata 1000, Specialized Expedtion, Centurion Pro Tour, Univega Gran Turismo and Schwinn Voyageur SP -- any of those bikes can bring over $400 easily if in top shape... which this one appears to be.

I stand corrected!

This isn't mine, but I have the same frameset up for sale on CL for $100. My frame even has some rust issues. If it didn't I would be asking $200+ for the frameset. Vintage touring bikes seem to be really up in value the past year or two. I sold a minature 84' Trek 520 a few months ago for $350 easily.

This seems to be written in the new future-speak. Rambling on with no punctuation. And he includes his FONE number!

"The size is not so large that even a woman could ride it."
Wait, does that mean a woman could ride it, or a woman couldn't ride it. I have heard that bikes have to be a certain size before women can ride them whereas men are able to ride bikes of all sizes :-D
