You and a friend get a Ride up to the top of Mt Diablo for a beautiful and serene ride down the Mountain. This ride is approximately 25 Miles round trip. That's a common tourist thing at some of the Pacific volcanoes, has been done at Pikes Peak, etc. Take the tourists up in buses, let 'em coast down at their leisure. It's not a Fred thing, it's a non-cyclist thing.

Yes, and they are great!
I have done that with my son several times, both South and North gate road. We climbed the mountain on the road to the top and used the trails on the way down. When going down the north side one of the options is to end the ride through Castle Rock park where you have to cross the same creek about seven or eight times, a lot of fun when there's enough water to hide rocks in the creek bed.

I don't know that I'd call the Diablo descent "serene" or "relaxing". It's fun, but you ain't fallin' asleep, that's for sure.

If the price were more reasonable, or the $50 took you back to the top several times, I'd consider it. Whee!

Considering the tough times, I'm not surprised this guy's trying to make an extra buck.

Eastern Sierra, dormant volcano, 11,000'+ in elevation. It is a world class ski resort in the winter, and a big-time mtb park in the summer. I can't imagine riding up to the top, and nobody really does. You buy an all-day gondola ticket.

Slightly OT. I'd love to do the ski lift thing at North Star this summer. Any other MTB'ers here done North Star?
