Road Cycling - now I have questions on a Raleigh Comp 04

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

someone said look at the Raleigh. so i did.
i like what i see online, but have no bike to check out in person. Does anyone have one of these?
How do the carbon seat stays feel on the road. I guess this would be similar to a Trek 2200/2300. The price $1500-1600 looks good and so do the components. What about the Ritchey Comp Aero wheels?
Do you think it would be heavier that a similar Tred or a Specialized Allez Comp?
I am going nuts looking at all these bike choices, especially since most of them I can't ride, no dealers nearby or nothing in stock.

Beautiful bike. Good set up and mix.

I'd set aside a Saturday and make the trip to the nearest town where you can test ride your choices. Make a point to come home with a bike unless none of them feel right. Take the time to contact the shops ahead of time to see what they have in stock and what their prices are.

Problem is, without riding them you'll never know. You may end up loving whatever bike you buy sight unseen, but you won't know if you could've done better.

Do you know what size you need?

Based on all my research and the bikes i have tried, I need about a 56cm. in the Raleigh that gives a 58cm center to top tube, depends on who makes the frame. Inseam is 34"(86cm), so about 31" standover, depending on whether or not it is the compact geometry. The top tube should be about 560-570mm with around a 100mm stem. I wish i could try all these i have considered, but we don't have many dealers around here and little stock at the ones we have.

I've had raleigh's most of my life. I've got an R700 now. If you know you'r size I'd do mailorder. I don't think you'll be disapointed.
