Did my usual morning workout today and it was brutal - resistance training at its best.

seriously. I was in my like 52x15 or something like that on my morning commute like nothing... turned the corner, and whoa a wall of wind. I had to downshift to the 23 cog and was struggling with that,

caught a ride in this morning (to windward)

excited to ride home (to leeward).

looks like good wx for the weekend though, for those of you not going to hawaii (sorry couldn't resist)

ECMWF AND GFS BUILD A FAIRLY STRONG RIDGE OVER THE WEEKEND AND INTO
EARLY NEXT WEEK INDICATING ABOVE NORMAL TEMPS...LIGHT WINDS AND
MINIMAL LOW CLOUDS AND FOG. I.E NICE SPRING WEATHER.

I was riding in this mess in Marin today. Good god was it bad. Fairfax Bolinas road has debris EVERYWHERE so be careful if you're taking this road soon.

It's been howling in Vacaville/Fairfield all day and now we're getting rain on top of that. Blech.

The weekend, however, looks promising.

I was in Oakland all day, and coming home @5:30 southbound on the 680 was interesting. On the right was Alamo/Danville under a clear blue cloudless sky, and on the left was a big bank of dark gray cloud completely obscuring Diablo from base to summit.

Great photos! I was watching the white caps on the bay from my office in SSF, bruised my hip just trying to exit a door the wind was so strong. Decided on a rollers workout at 5 Rings Cycling Center and we lost power - that was speciial . . . .

It was a windy ride to Sunnyvale this morning.

How was the ride home?

A friend and I rode Mt. Hamilton this morning. The wind had really picked up when we started back down, and neither of us was ready for those 40 degree gusts!

I was almost blown to the side fence of a highway 101 overpass pedestrian walkway on my way home this afternoon. I went real slow and it was still scary. I really tought I was going to eat chicken wire.

Once the cloud cleared, a dusting of snow/hail could be seen on top of Diablo.

It was pretty miserable riding the Duc home from Sunnyvale last night. Trees were throwing branches at me left and right (got hit by a few smaller ones), and Pescadero Creek Rd was absolutely covered in branches, I had to play hopscotch through some corners.

Then I got home to a power outage, only to discover that the outlet on our new emergency generator doesn't match the plug from the transfer switch. Doh! Luckily there was still enough daylight to walk the dogs, start a fire, and light some candles.

No riding for me yesterday, but we alternated between hail, rain and sun during my kids' swim team practice at Dougherty HS in San Ramon yesterday around 5. Windy enough that the kickboards wouldn't stay on the deck - they just blew away.

Those pictures are awesome - if they were taken in the vicinity of a bike you should really take a moment to post them in the "cool pix you've taken while cycling" thread on the Road forum. It's one of those few constant threads that is a source of inspiration in that forum.

I made it halfway to work, then my inner ear started giving me the business, so I limped back to Mountain View Light Rail and took it back home and called in sick.

So I didn't ride yesterday past about Sierra Vista and Middlefield. But the volume of debris out there today is most impressive.

I aborted a training ride up the coast after about 10 miles. The head wind was so brutal that I was in the drops on the small chain wheel struggling on the rolling down hills! The quartering gusts then would push me all over the road. The wind noise was near deafening riding into the gusts.

I turned around to head back to Santa Cruz and instantly everything became eerily quiet as I spun out in my top gear even on the rolling up hills being pushed by a 35-45 mph tail wind. :D

No kidding... My friend and I rode Page Mill Rd to skyline and back yesterday evening, at about 6pm. Pretty wild conditions on the way up and a rather chilly descent. Still better than watching TV!
