Sir,

I sell these and they are very rare.

You may already know but these saddles do take some good riding to get them settled. Not many riders today look for these and they tend to go with all the new saddles now which many in my opinion are simply hype.

Your best bet may be to buy a new one. They offer them now in a pre-softend version.

I rode one for years.... A good trick is too loosen the tension on the front bolt and saturate the leather in a conditioner such as Lexol or Hide Food. This will aid break in. If your not a techno-weight freak, they are great saddles and will last forever.

Hey guy,
The best part of the brooks experience is the searing pain your ass feels while breaking it in. But out of pain grows a wonderful relationship you will enjoy forever.

Kind of like a marriage but better and longer lasting.

I absolutely love my Brooks B-17. I guess I was fortunate that for me the saddle was comfortable right out of the box. And it's only gotten better. I bought mine brand new and I've had it for over a year now. Best investment I ever made.

+1. I use Proofide, like Brooks suggests. There are about a thousand break-in methods out there, from soaking the saddle in water to using Crisco to soften them up. Regardless, count on 600 to 1,000 miles before a decent break-in.

Mine was semi-uncomfortable out of the box, and is getting better.
Not that it was painful, just didn't fit right.

There's LOTS of threads about them, so you can search and get all sorts of info. They really are a love it or hate on it type of seat.... you'll see by the posts when you search.

One from the vaults. Still, for some new users it could be good to bring back old topics. To the original topic for years I have used a non-Brooks leather saddle that was old and worn when I got it. Keep your plastic saddles.

Do we yet have enough Brooks threads to start a leather saddle forum?:p

I didn't notice the age of the thread.

The threads get old but the topics and opportunities for smartass responses don't. Keep 'em coming.

D'OH... I hadn't noticed the age either. Oh well, as stated.... the opportunity for jokes is still there. :D
