Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey-I am a freshman in high school and this summer a bunch of my friends and I, along with a teacher of ours, will be touring throughout New Hampshire and Maine. Our trip will cover over 200 miles in about 3-4 days. I was wondering if anyone had any tips to offer!! Thanks!
That is a very broad question... just for general tips look at travelogues here or on CrazyGuy's site (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com). For more specific info please provide some details. E.g. is this a supported tour or will you be carrying everything you need with you, where are you planning to sleep, will you be cooking your food or eating in restaurants etc.
Doubt this helps, but pack light and enjoy the tour! :D

I agree with juha in that it is a broad question. If you have never done anything like this, here is the mistake that everyone makes when they start touring . . . They bring too much! The advice I offer, is if you are going to be out 4 days, only bring it if your going to need it 3 of those days . . . Keep clothes to a minimum. Set goals for each day, but be flexable! This is a mistake I make everytime I start a tour. If I plan to ride 70 miles the first day, and only make, say 50, I think I am letting myself down . . It normally takes me a couple of days riding, to realize, its not about the miles, its about the ride . . . . .

I highly suggest you check out my database website for touring cyclists. I created it for beginners but it's also great for experienced tourers. 1500 quality links for everything bike touring. Focus on factual info.
