Great Lakes - SE WI/NE IL: Where to buy shoes/pedals, etc...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a champion of buying things on the internet.
I'd like to get a very proper fit of shoes locally.
I have a Kona Zing coming (whoooo!) and I need to outfit myself more proper than mtb shoes and eggbeaters. Saddles also!
I went to Performance in Northbrook and was disappointed. (Though not in the pricing on their Fuji roadbikes which was incredible)
Who has a good selection and help for me?
Thanks!

Well, I gotta plug Bens Cyclery (http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=205&zenid=d876b10306e1e4ca6b800475c0f732a3) on Milwaukee's south side. You won't find a better shop around, although the selection of shoes on their webpage is quite lacking. Second tier picks would be Rainbow Jersey (http://www.rainbowjersey.com/) and Wheel & Sprocket (http://wheelandsprocket.com/). Chicago certainly has other top Pro shops - Turin in Evanston (http://turinbicycle.com/) comes to mind. That would be a trip worth while.
More local to you, what about Racine Cyclery (http://www.racinecyclery.com/) ?
not to forget George Garner in Northbrook. That's a good shop.
Higher Gear in Highland Park. Alberto's in HP.
