Hi
Just wondered if anyone could recommend a good pair of riding sunglasses. I am using Oakley Minutes at the moment and I find that when I turn my head to check traffic behind me, the frame seems to be right in the way of my vision (corner of my eyes, if you know what I mean).
Any recommendation would be welcome.

I use Oakley Pro M-Frames. I have had about 5 pairs of Oakley's now and found that these have a really good firm fit on my head. I also like the fact that there is so many lens options, in colour and style.
I've got Rudy Project Kerosenes. I've been very happy with them. I looked at the Oakley M-Frames too but well... they just don't fit my face. I needed something with an adjustable nosepiece.
i found this to be very good.

I've just started wearing Rudy Project Rydons with Rx insert.
Great glass, light weight and very good field of vision even with
the insert.
Previously wore Bolles which were alright but I much prefer
the Rudy's. Looked at Oakly but didn't like their Rx options (rx lense not clip on).

Lets raise the Ante a bit. How about sunglasses that you can wear over regular glasses?

I've been using Rudy Project Rydons for the last few months. So light you forget you're wearing them, and they have really good adjustability too. My wife picked up a pair of Rydon SXs - slightly narrower frame for smaller faces. She loves them, and finds it great not having a frame to get in the way of her peripheral vision.
I use these. The frame doesn't get in the way when looking over my shoulder or scanning the road ahead.

I use these Addidas "evileye" sunglasses which are pretty nice. I have the prescription insert but I wish it had a beter field of vision. It does have a kind of spongy strip on the top so sweat doesn't get into your eyes that is pretty sweet. Those Rudy projects are going to be my next ones when these give up the ghost.
I've got the Lance oakley M's.... love them for riding, but I look like an idiot in them for anything else.. ;) Couldn't ask for better glasses though...

I like the idea of a pair of "svelte" glasses and need mine to be Rx also; are the Rudy Rydons available generally inplaces like Lenscrafters?

Yep... the coolness of cycling sunglasses like most cycling related wear bears a similar relationship to gravity in that it's a weak force to begin with and then drops off as the inverse square of the distance to the bike.

I bought a pair of Rydon's about a month ago..The optics is great...Had to have the prescription filled by my optometrist.. He was fully capable of having them filled...
Unlike the kerosenes, Rydon's don't have the opening that is supposed to be used for defog functions...Not sure that works, anyway...? I do like them..
Was curious about the Kerosenes...Got the Rydon's because they were smaller and thought looked more like 'normal' sunglasses..
But then, lance's oakleys, I would wear anywhere..They are pretty cool....
I'm an Oakley freak. I wear the Oakley Minute and Half Jacket for just about everything but cycling. For cycling I like the Pro M Frames. Either Ice blue iridium or Fire iridium lenses.
Was never a big fan of Rudy Project - could be because I enjoy seeing Jan lose to Lance so much. :D

Oakley M frame hybrid s. I love them.

I am using Rudy Project Kerosene, I really like them so far. For years I have been using Oakleys but I have broken the temple peices that go around your ears on the old Blades and I have broken 3 M frames just from wear. Never again for Oakleys.

M frame hybrid. No frame blocking your peripheral vision. Good coverage. No light blasting in around the sides. They also stay put. Your head will fall off before they do.

I use the Rudy Project Ekynox w/racing red lens. I'm trying real hard to love them, but the frame does block the peripheral vision a bit. The optics are good, and ventilation isn't a problem, but I'm starting to think that they're much better for just wearing around. I like the Oakley's that Hincape wears, but the ear pieces are a bit bulky.
I have Rudy Project Tayos. They have interchangable lenses and the one I like to use best is a photochromatic red. When conditions get lighter or darker, so does the lens. This of course adjusts the amount of light that will transmit through the lens giving good protection on overcast as well as sunny days. In extremely bright conditions, I use a dark grey lens with a mirror coating.
I have been thinking about the new Rudy Ekynox or the the Oakley M frame just as a birthday request and the fact I like sunglasses. In my opinion, Oakley has the clearest optics of any sports lens I have seen.

Oakley Half Jackets.....lenses are removeable....slight interference with 'corner' vision.

Interesting. One of the reasons I like the Oakley M frame is the full, unobstructed coverage that they provide. Any other thoughts on the Ekynox? They look a bit like my Tayos.

Rudy Project Rydon's here as well. My face has never fit Oakley's very well, and the adjustability of the Rudy's come in handy.
Bolle 401 Polarized. Got a good deal on them from Campmor.com.

I'm a big fan of my Oakley Splice shades. Light, fit well, and look cool as hell.
I also have the Bolle 401 Polarized; and I like it as good as more expensive glasses I've had, and I only paid $20 at Big 5 Sporting store. Plus they are very light weight and can't even tell your wearing them even after 100 miles.
I gotta admit, I'm real bad with money. I've been using this $10 pair of sunglasses I bought at a pharmacy for a while after losing a pair of rudy project skeey's 3 years ago. Anyway I finally broke down and bought a pair of Ketyum's.
They're pretty good, spring hinges, adjustable nose piece and temples, after I adjusted it, the thing fits perfectly on my face and nothing gets in the way when I turn my head. My only beef is that unlike the other rudy projects, the lens only attaches at the corner near the bridge and it feels kind of flimsy though RP assured me that it is very durable and they will repair it if anything happens to it. It's also a little heavier since the whole thing is metal but overall I'm pretty happy. The vent at the top allows just enough air to circulate that I don't get too sweaty and they don't fog up when I stop either.

I have the Ekynox SX, so its a smaller frame. They look cool, but I've noticed that the peripheral vison is bloked just where I need it to glance behind.

still using my X-Mart 10 dollar cheapies repaired w/ duct tape. It's not that I'm cheap but I break things and loose things all the time unless of course I don't care about them. Like these glasses I cannot loose them if I try ;)

Slvoid..I recently bought the RP Rydon's...Like them..Your model looks so close to the Rydons...Metal frames too...Rydon's..Have no vent function, similiar to how your describe yours... They do have an opening near where they snap out of the frames...Suspect that circulates air to some extent..Is your vent adjacent the nosepiece?
One thing I notice about the Rydon's.. It takes a lot of force to snap them on/off the frame..Lenses expensive enough, a little nervous to apply that much force..Do you notice that problem...?
I bought the yellow replacement lenses for low light riding.

The lens is connected only in the corner where carbon fiber is in that picture. The rest of the lens all the way out to the hinge of the frame just stays open like that to vent. I was a little bit concerned at first too because it was so hard to snap them in and out. A trick I've found is to hold it in your left hand at the top and make a slight motion like you're rolling a tire onto the rim, use your thumb to push on the upper edge of the lens a little bit while pulling the end of the lens down with your right hand, it'll snap out a lot easier. I also found when putting them in that a healthy firm snap works better than applying pressure slowly. It gets easier with time once that little lip that retains the lens starts wearing out, heh.
I ride at night too and mine came with a clear lens which I found works better than yellow cause yellow tends to glare out car headlights too much. The metal frame is about 3x thicker than the Rydon and it feels kind of heavy but I really like the spring hinges plus I got it for almost the same price as the Rydon with another pair of lenses.
BTW: I emailed rudy and they said that all glasses after 2003 have a 3 year warranty which also covers the thing wearing out. So don't be afraid to pop those lenses in and out as much as you want.

I don't use fancy-schmanzy glasses. I could spend lots on sunglasses (and I have), but I use these. They're the Wilson Triple X glasses with three interchangeable lenses. They're $30. They're protective eyewear for indoor racquet sports (squash, racquetball), which means that they're high-impact resistant lenses. With three different lense colors (clear, yellow, smoke), you can use whatever is appropriate for that day.

Oakley M frames. Oakley stood by Lance when other conpanies abandoned him during his darkest hour. I have several lenses of differing shades ($30 each) including clear for night riding.

I just bought a pair of vented Oakley Racing Jackets (Blue w/ fire lenses) to use during biking. I am a Oakley customer tried and true...both for my prescript normal glasses and sunglasses. IMO you get what you pay for. ;)
Rudy Project Kerosene's
Me too. They're like I'm not wearing anything.
These guys are one of the best shades I've ever had. Dunno why Briko discontinued them.

I use these, they where around 45 for them (at my LBS, but performance has them now), and they come with three sets of lenses and they have a huge vent across the top of the lens, and there is no frame on the sizes to cause a blind spot, I would get some nicer one, I just can not afford 100+ for a pair of riding galsses

Oakley M frame, sweeps or hybrid w/black iridium lens.
I bought 8 pair when I was at the base. I've sold 2 for $100 ea. I have more for anyone in the Tucson area. They retail for around $145.
Being blind as a bat I need glasses that have a Rx incert, so I now have a pair of really cool Rudey Projects Kerosine. With poly carbonate leses in the Rx adapter you barely can feel the extra weight!!
