After searching, I realize bike noises can come from just about anywhere but I thought I would check to see if anyone can direct me given some specific symptoms.
Bike is 1980s trek converted to single speed. The creaking noise only happens when I am out of the saddle and starting a ride. It only seems to last a few pedal strokes, and then it won't make a noise for the rest of the ride (even after stopping and starting later in the ride it doesn't seem to make the noise - I think, I'll need to pay closer attention next time).
Any hints on where I should start looking? Other than the noise, the bike has been running smooth and I haven't touched anything but the chain in a while.
