Northern California - Bike Around the Buttes 4/18 - anyone going?

This Saturday, 4/18. The family and I usually do this one together. This year, it looks like I'll also have Blankcrows and Bikingshearer along

It is a nice, easy ride - and the loop around The Buttes is very scenic.

Will any other BF members be there?

Oh boy, I'm going to Bike Around the Butts. I can't wait to see all those butts riding around each other. What a glorious sight, butt after butt after butt, all in lovely tight lycra. It's about time somebody thought of something like this and I for one . . . .

Very. Flat, scenic, and your choice - 100, 60, 40, or 18 mile ride. Doesn't get any friendlier.

I wish it fell on Sunday instead of Saturday, as I have tentative plans. It does sound nice, though. Hmm.

This was my 2nd century ever and while flat in the first half, the second half is worth riding up and down the dikes and through the flat fields in the first half. Weather looks great, too.

Officially, those are the rides they offer. Here's the deal - the course is a figure 8 so you start, do a 60 mile loop, and return to the start to have lunch. Then you go out the other side and loop 40 miles around The Buttes for a total of 100 miles. If you want more than 40 but less than 100, just do the first loop, eat lunch, and call it a day.

I'm planning on doing the 40 mile loop because it is more scenic and it will be a casual ride with friends. after we loop around The Buttes, we might well do the 18 mile "family ride" just for fun. depends on how we feel, the wind, the phase of the moon, etc...... :)

I don't know about you folks up in Vacaville but here in the oh so politically correct Bay Area, we use the word levee just to avoid any trouble.:) :rolleyes:

BBM, those are really cool pix. Very convincing but I think I better be good and stick my original plan of hanging about and getting some house stuff done. Maybe I can get a ride in on Sun though w/ actc if my but can get up in time (er.. that's the other factor.. heh).

I will definitely remember for next year though and try and grab some buds to come along. Looks like a great ride.

Maybe I'll see you for slow poke on the 5th if I don't feel too bruised after Wine Country or if I don't just stay up there for some "recovery" :D

I'm interested in this ride, but I'll be setting up for the Primavera tomorrow.
With my lack of building up my bent legs, a nice flat ride would be great for me. Maybe I'll put in for vacation for this week next year so I'm assured of being able to attend if the weather is nice. The only time I've seen The Buttes is from I-5 and the hills near Indian Valley Reservoir.

It's only a 40 mile ride around the Buttes. Heck, we're probably not going to get out of the startng gate until at least 9:30. :)


Hmm, if we can get to the start of this ride at Yuba City a half hour before the close, we'll ride it and look out for you guys. Otherwise, we'll try to do the Roseville loop Joel mapped out for us or at least the ARBT as suggested by nasv.

We could totally do this ride on the tandem but have company this weekend. And anytime you get a chance to ride up there you should -- it's actually very pretty, looking east to west over the valley, and riding around the rice paddies and alfalfa fields.

Got a really late start and totally missed this ride. I hope you folks had a good time. Wifey and I rode the ABRT instead from Beals Point to Nimbus. Nice trail and not too crowded. Just hot as heck in Sac - 87 degrees on the ABRT.

Let us know how the ride went, BBM. It was a HOT date today.. whew... Was thinking of you guys out there.
