Road Cycling - I was right; you need an 11 tooth cog

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just did a big bunch ride, and when we got to ~38-40mph (a few times), all the guys with their 53/12 started bouncin' all over the place, yet there I was, cruizin' with my 11, sittin' on about 105 rpm :D

One guy even commented at one stage that he went to go up a gear, but was dismayed to find he had no more gears!! Hee hee hee :)

you can calculate rpm with this:

Unless of course it's moving... then it stings as it slices into your fingers. :)

I agree. As Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap said: "I like to have eleven"
