yeah, that's him. lapping the field solo is pretty ridiculous.

i watched a couple minutes too many of the men's A race at the capitol on the way home and got wet myself.

The collegiate race was hard. One lap about 20 guys went down on turn two and put a big split in the field. Unfortunately I was behind the split, but I still have all of my skin.

I tried to get in the P12 Great Dane race, Heidi said she would upgrade me but I would have to be a two for the rest of the year, not just that one race. So I turned that down and watched the race from the car.

I finished 5th in the 4/5 Masters. Nice. Didn't even want to sprint but no one really had a kick and I still had energy left. Had to make a big sweeping move to the outside - sorry if I pinched anyone.

...by my estimation I snagged an upgrade point....hmmm....too bad I don't want any.

Nice PSI

It was still beautiful weather for the 5's, but it was a brisk race by the look of it. You would have loved it.

Only the serious guys came out today. No yelling. No weird lines. Just racing. It was nice.

Psimet2001* did you do both races today? How was the weather? Bigger/smaller fields than yesterday? Nice 5th 4/5 masters!! Are you racing next weekend?

I did the 4 and the 4/5 today. Dropped out of the 4 - no warmup and ended up on the front for a lap and a half....just couldn't motor. Sat up and took the drop.

Second race I was finally warmed up. Went much better. Just cruised along.

The course was reverse so instead of 2 short steep hills you had 1 long grinder up the back. It kind of sucked. Wasn't horrible but it was a leg zapper.

The fields were much smaller, but it was just the serious guys so it was still spunky at times. The races were slower today for sure but it was also much colder. Big wind too. The 4/5 I got 5th out of 26 starters (1 DNF....guess who....)

Nice racing everyone! I wish I could have made it out to spectate with my small people in tow. Given the weather, they would not have appreciated it.

This guy in the 5's got a twig or something stuck in his wheel, so he was smart and stopped for his free lap. They lined him up across the road and as the pack was rolling by the ref. started to give him a big shove so he can get back up to speed. "WHOA WHOA!" the rider shouted ... he was still standing on the ground! :roflmao2: By the time he was clipped in and rolling ... the pack was G O N E .

as always, thanks for being the photo man john! my frame looks great since stripping it down to the aluminum - nice and shiny.

and i already submitted my upgrade online, so i should be a cat 3 by next weekend. i never did add up my points or anything, but i figure 2 wins should do it.

You didn't see it...these guys were going crazy and swerving all over the road....for 20th place....and this was right after a big crash in the 3/4 sprint that sent a guy to the hospital when he landed on his face....with no ambulance there or medical personnell. Took minutes for the ambulance to come.

....and then these cat 5's go crazy for 20th place and dump 3 of them as well.

Actually these guys were racing for the win. I would know, I was the guy side swiped from behind by the geargrinder dude. Tough stuff, but was able to redeem in the 4/5 and on Sun.

I was sitting there watching it. The guys that hit the deck were buried in the pack - not on the front.

Which race are you talking about?

In the cat 5 race, the race was already won at the time of the wreck--from what i saw. They were a bit up the road from me but they were the next riders in front of me and by this point i was essentially OTB.

Congrats Psi,

You got that point! Especially impressive since the race took place before you were born!

HAHA....awesome. I think it's like that because they reported both days of racing on one report. It also isn't showing the point or those specific results under my profile. I'll wait until they get it straightened out

That's impressive...

Looking at my two results, i've decided that for reasons of pride i need to stop sitting up if i'm not going to place where i want to. 41st and 25th don't exactly represent my efforts  (though, in my defense, that 41st is off by about 20...).

Your chance to complain about it being wrong is during the protest period. :thumb: But all my results have been spot on this year so far.

BTW I don't see you in 41st.

the 41st was in south beloit. That whole thing was a cluster ****. The results weren't even available during the protest period at that race. Not sure how that works...

Blackhawk placings were a joke. I think these were pretty good. I thought I was higher up in the 4's race on Saturday, but meh....they don't list all the DNF's MJH2 shows up nowhere....:innocent:

Wisconsin Cycling really has their system together in my opinion. I've always found them to be pretty accurate. And willing to correct it on the rare occasion there's a mistake. *if approached during the protest period.

Just ask MJH2 about the time he finished 4th and got lapped in a WI CX race.

That's where I also received my name.

I finished 2nd on Sunday after getting lapped so it's certainly possible. :)

Which reminds me, thanks to JohnWilkes for giving me the inside scoop on the best line to the finish after watching the previous races. :thumb:

Agreed. The results are quick and accurate 99% of the time for USCF races. Wanna know how the last race went? Just go to the S/F line and the results are there, posted, every time. Last year at Monsters of the Midway I asked an official where I could find some results and he answered "where you registered". I him a dirty look while holding my two cameras and tripod and asked again: "Uh ... and where's THAT?" "Over there" pointing half to the west, but more 'UP' and I never did find it. I think they tore it down before the last race was even over.

I will say...

Due to the wreck that happened in front of me this weekend, my number wasn't on the results sheet. I talked to the official, he sorted it out, and apologized to me.

Since we're taking requests ... Cat 5, 1985 Schwinn Peloton, downtube shifters ... anyone? I heard some shutters clicking as I was at the front. Do you photographers maintain any galleries (of local racing) for later browsing?

I finished my races both days without issues (other than having no sprint). You might be thinking of a Colnago (similarly red, shiny, and steel, but with modern Campagnolo equipment) in the same race.

I think you're right. Younger guy one it?

You're a taller guy? I think I saw you working it hard.

I don't recall any specific bikes standing out, but I'll have the rest of the decent pix posted from Sunday shortly.

Recursive: I noticed where on the road you were when you won that sprint. Glad it worked out! :D

Hey! I don't remember any sun shining on that day. ??? :p

Speaking of track racing ... we gotta hook up MJH2 with a fixed gear this season. Dude ... you've got the build and speed of a good trackie, and with your crit. endurance, you'd be a killer in the longer races. If nothing else, get a loaner and try it a time or two. I think you're a natural. :thumb:
