Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Moisture wicking underwear

Anyone using moisture-wicking underwear on rides? If so, is it worth it? Pretty cheap for a 3pack at amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Champion-Double-Activefit-3-Pack-Brief/dp/B001AY2SP0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1239886160&sr=8-4.)
Thought this would be good for when I want some wicking but want to be able to wear whatever I want on top of them.

I've never used regular underwear, but i have used thermals, t-shirts, and socks. all great stuff. i recommend it. i wear duofold, wigwam, and the cheap Gander Mtn shirts. i hear the under armor underwear works well.

For about $8 you can get a pair of wicking compression shorts, without bothersome seams (lycra) from WalMart. Stay away from stuff with seams you have to sit on.

I don't wear chamois. Just wanted to know about some moisture wicking underoos to wear under regular bar-hopping clothes.

Do they keep these in the underwear or in sporting goods? I kind of halfass looked at the underwear dept for something wicking and didn't find anything.

I find them in the underwear section, salespeople refer to them as biker shorts.

I would check out some merino wool boxer briefs or briefs by someone like smart wool. They wick well, don't smell, and are super durable. I wore one smart wool base layer skiing 5-6 days a week, for for months straight(with washing of course:P) and it was still in good shape at the end.

^its starting to get warm here in WV now so I don't think wool would be a very good choice. I'll keep it in mind for the cold half of the year though

I wear compression shorts when I'm going to be out all day. I wear Under Armour ones. They're great.

The beauty about Merino wool (among many other things) is that it regulates your body temp in warm or cold weather. I tried a pair of Merino wool socks a couple years ago and have since replaced all my synthetic socks. I havn't tried other garments such as underwear, but the socks keep my feet dry in the summer so I'm sure it works just as well...

There's no point in these if you're wearing non-wicking shorts or pants on the outside.

Yeah, it wicks right into my pants leaving sweat spots on my pants. I have a couple pair of seamless ones from target that are decently comfortable. I'm stuck changing clothes usually, but I'm a fattie and sweat a lot anyways.

I understand "Depends" have the highest moisture wicking capability out there.

lol Lycra/biking shorts in substitute for underwear is my recommendation.

The chamois is kinda stiff at first which will pop out of certain clothing making your butt look big, but if you wear tight/thick enough denim they'll lay flat (plus after a few washes they soften up).

The chamois will actually absorb sweat better than normal moisture wicking briefs and these shorts have rubber grips so they won't ride up your leg (wrinkling will eventually chaffe). Buy one pair first to try. You might not like all the padding and it might not work the best with your wardrobe. Worse comes to worse, you'll have it handy for longer rides if you don't own padded shorts already.

Some other things to think about are that these shorts don't have a fly (but who actually uses the fly on briefs) and if you happen to spend the night with someone you meet on your bar hopping escapades, they may think you're a dork if they find out.

In general though, I'd stay away from those white briefs. You don't want to worry about stains.

An nice addition is if your wearing wool to a bar ect, if you get sweaty dancing in wool your junk won't smell like **** like it would if you wore synthetic compression shorts.
