Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Quick Ignore Button

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I wish there was a quicker way to add someone to your ignore list. Like a ignore button on their post or something. Perhaps one exists but I cannot find it...I can only do it in the user cp.
Go to the user's profile -> User Lists drop down near the to left of the profile -> Add User to Ignore List -> "Yes". Not sure if it's any faster, but seriously, don't think adding an 'add to ignore' button next to everyone's post is a good plan either.

I was thinking that the other day. But since the user in question doesn't show up that much, I figure I can live with it for a while longer.

I can't believe people actually use that function.

I can't believe people don't use it more frequently. guess it depends where on the forum you frequent.

Why not add it to the menu that pops-up when you click on the username to the left of the post?

That would work too, but a quick ignore button on a person's post would be much more convenient.

I guess it would cut down on some troubles, but do people really have that much of a problem with what other people say? This is a forum, which by definition is a place for an open discussion. Why ignore anyone on here?

How many people are you planning on ignoring?

I think I have 4 people on my ignore list right now. I don't have a problem with what people say, but it's like why listen to negativity when you don't have to. Most of the people I ignore are from the road forum, which has a lot heavy traffic, and thus attracts the low life trolls vying for attention.

I'll tell you what, I'll look into how much additional coding might be required, or whether it's even available as an option with the forum software.

Just replicate the form data from http://www.bikeforums.net/profile.php?do=removelist&userlist=ignore&u=49385 .
Same user ID too.

Wow, this could be a direct quote from George Bush.

I have about the same, although only one person on my ignore list still posts. At least one of the others is now banned.
To be honest some people test my self-control... so might as well remove the temptation.
