The NYT was emphasizing Dutch bikes but I'm happy to see any bikes with models wearing "normal", fashionable clothes to let people know that cycling CAN be fashionable and practical. You don't have to dress up in head-to-toe spandex or look like a bike messenger to comfortably ride a bike. :thumb:

The people in Europe and Asia know that you can dress like a regular person using a bike as the bike for the most part never left their sides over the years and generations. The people in North America banish the bike to a child's toy level for many, many years. Or if they become a cyclist, they must dress the part as Lance clones.

I am happy to say that is rapidly changing even in car worshiping Southern California. I see more and more "regular" non-spandex wearing average people now using bikes, just like their other old world continent counterparts.

Oh good. I was starting to think that maybe there was something wrong with me for tooling around on my Swift sans spandex and a yellow jersey.

Looks like the media's gett'n the bike'n bandwagon into gear.
But to throw in a dress-code w/it?? :roflmao2:

My son tells me that I look like a dork with my work clothes and bike helmet. This ought to show him that I'm stylish, not dorky.

I have a bike helmet that I refuse to wear unless I'm going off-roading or similar.

For everyday usage, I just coat my hair with a ton of AquaNet hairspray. Trust me, Aquanet offers it's own unique protection in the form of helmet hair. Lightweight, tough as nails and as stiff as a board! ;)
