I will be at the Barton Creek Resort next week. I am assuming I am SOL when it comes to cycling since that is more of a golfer's paradise (and I don't even golf). But, for anyone more familiar with that area than me, is there any way to rent a bike that is near there or am I going to be relegated to hoofing it on an exercise bike while I am there? The area is incredible there. It seems a shame to waste it.

Not sure about rental places but Austin is one of the most bike friendly cities in Texas despite of the high velocity hot winds eminating from the capitol building. Why not ask this question in the Texas regional area. You might have better luck with a answer and maybe even someone willing to show you around the better areas to bike in Austin.

Bicycle Sport Shop on S Lamar is near you. They rent. There are trails at the Emma Long Park near your resort.
There are is also a flat hike/bike/jog gravel trail around Town Lake. If you're looking for a relaxing ride with people-watching potential it's hard to beat. Barton Springs is a very cool place to go. It's a spring-fed dammed section of Barton Creek that's also great for swimming and hanging out. Easy to get there if you are on S Lamar.
