Hi all,
I recently found a complete 1985 Raleigh Mountain Tour Elkhorn. After some research, I discovered that this was the second-to-best quality mtb Raleigh produced that year. Here's the specs:
Frame: 575 MT chrome moly, forged vert dropouts
Bars & Stem: "Bullmoose" (one-piece)
Crankset: Takagi AD 50/44/30, 170mm
Derailleurs: SunTour AG Tech
Levers: Suntour LD-2800
Brakes: Shimano AT-50 canti
Hubs: Sansin AX-10A sealed
Rims: Araya 7X 26x1.75
I'm looking forward to cleaning this old monster up, but I wanted to get some opinions first.
1. Are there any parts I should update or replace? I'd like to keep it all "period correct" (85-88) if I can.
2. Is this considered a classic? I know the Stumpjumper debuted in 81, so this was among the first batch of mass-produced mountain bikes...
