I'm 15 and plan to do my first race on Sunday. I have no idea how to prepare. If it is Tuesday now and the race is on Sunday, what would be the most effective thing for me to do riding wise? Should i do intervals today then go easy the rest of the week or what? Thanks a lot.

EDIT: By the way, it is a 20 mile criterium. Its not a very big deal, but I want to try and do well.

Well, I've got about 450 miles for this year so far. All have been good, quality miles. I've gotten some isolated leg training in and some intervals. I've done hills, and i did a 41 miler on sunday. That's the longest I've ever ridden. I own a Trek 2300 and usually average around 18mph. Give or take .5mph. Thanks for your imput.

Go to this race get a feel for the compitition and adjust accordingly. If you get your but kicked then you know you need more training if this sport is your thing. If you win then guess what you need more training ;) Have fun post back the results.
