We all have it, that automatic route we ride when we can't come up with something better. The route that starts in the garage and ends there as well. The daily ride. Mine is 15 miles give or take and is made up of hills that become hills with some hills thrown in for good measure.

So, I am trying out a new pocket camera and decided to hit my local route yesterday and I shot some pics of it and thought I would share. No vistas of awe here, just rural mid-America.

OK, these first two shots are to show how much I love the macro setting on this thing. Nice huh?

There was a farmer who had a tractor stuck, so ditched my baby in the grass and helped him. You can see the other pics of the tractors at the photobucket site.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I enjoy seeing other parts of the country. Seems pretty flat in your neck of the woods. The macro setting is cool.:thumb:

Hard to get a sense of the hills around here with a camera. The hills are mostly rolling, with some steep on the east side of the county, but really everything around here is a hill. Probably the longest flat we have in the whole county is maybe 1/2 mile at most, and there are hills on both sides of that. I am not complaining though.

I can't believe how green it is down there. My grass is just starting to green up a little here, it still looks like winter in central Iowa.

Nice views though, I hope to see some of that soon.

you have just inspired me to take my little camera along with me as well. Another way to get me to pedal longer. LOL.

Jay

That is the flattest pictures of your home town that I've ever seen! Down where Jay lives is some flat out nasty hills!

I guess it is just a perspective and I agree it is hard to get the real view of hills in photos. I guess I was sensing it was flatter because I didn't notice any hills or ridges in the backgrounds even though you were just around town. Here are my hills I was comparing things to which is why I was thinking that your neck of the woods somewhat flatter.

Thanks for sharing the photos. I too, like to see where others ride. And it looks like you are a few weeks ahead of us weather wise which is inspiring. I have a ride on the 26th, that hopefully I'll remember to take the camera.

Nice pics! For me, the road most traveled apparently happens to be right at the end of the subdivision's only way in/out. It's got no shoulder, a blind curve going one way, and crosses a lake, then up/down 3 super steep pitches going the other....again, no shoulder. Plus steep embankments and trees abound.

I call it the Death Road :)

That said, if I can score a bike rack then all kinds of great possibilities open up :)

I'll try to remember to pack the camera into the seat bag more often!

Southern Illinois looks much greener than in the Windy City.

Thanks for sharing.
