It's not you--just a delusional CL seller. They must be behind on their mortgage payments.

^How do you even get on one of those! I like the fact that he posed in the picture, let alone using a "step right up" pose.

Good golly. I know Volares are rare but they aren't Paramounts. It can't be a 76 since they were only manufactured in 1977 and 1978 by Panasonic in Japan. Really really great bikes but I have seen them go for 500.00 to 700.00 depending on the condition. T-mar are you out there?
+1 Guy is nuts at that price.
I do love the C/L postings where someone says: just lost, my job, out of money, need cash fast. And then they are trying to sell an Xmart bike for a price higher than new.....

It takes a bit of practice, but you pre-position the pedals so that the wheel moves underneath you as you climb into the saddle. You use the tire as a step, and step up to the pedal with the other foot. The tall uni's are a bit more stable than the short ones.

Why not $2,500? It's obviously a rare, high-end bike. I just sold a Murray 10-speed with rusty 26" wheels for $1,100. Vintage prices are commanding premium prices. ;)

Yes, BUT, Vintage Murray's are extremely rare, vintage Schwinns are all over the place even if that model Schwinn is rare. BTW, I've got a Murray, think you can get $1100 for it? I'll split the take with you.
Ok you drive a hard bargain, how about 40 me, 60 you?

To the OP. A local guy here ran an ad for some vintage bike, I forget what it was, and asked some outrageous price. It turned out to be a gag from some dude who was fed up with the dumb ads with high prices on CL. Maybe this is the same prank?

Sent an e-mail and asked how much he really wants for the bike. It could be put back into nearly original condition with relatively little work.

Most machine riggers charge that much just to show up with the equipment to move something that heavy.
