It's been recommended that I consider Velocity rims for a CX/commuter/gravel trail bike build.

What particular Velocity rims would you all recommend ?

I'm thinking of running up to 35mm tires so I assume I'll want a slightly wider rim. I want rims that are going to stand up to some abuse as this is not going to be a super light race bike.

This is what I'm considering so far:

Aero at 480g, 20mm
Aerohead front, Aerohead O/S rear at 425, 20mm
Fusion at 480g, 19mm

I like the idea of the Aerohead/Aerohead O/S but have read they are a bit lightweight and potentially not as robust as I'll need.

Thanks

The Aerohead option would be my advise. The o/s rear will add significant strength to the rear without a weight penalty.

I like the Dyads, I run 35's on mine with no problems.

Synergy and Synergy OC. Dyad would be good too, but it doesn't come in an off-center extrusion.

Aerohead is a narrow rim, flargle has it right - the Synergy rim is wider and has the OC feature for your rear wheel.

Forgot to mention I'm 160lbs and not usually particularly hard on components.

Forgot to mention I'm 160lbs and not usually particularly hard on components. It's more fun being hard on your gear. You should try it.

Any of the rims mentioned in this entire thread will work fine. It's just a matter of relatively minor tradeoffs.
