John Tomac was/is one of my favorite racers. He raced BMX, Road and Mountain bikes. He used to race DH with road drop bars. Nuts!!!

He and Doug Bradberry (sp?) designed the Tomac line of bikes.

I've never ridden one, so I won't comment, but it comes from good lineage!

Not much info out there on that particular ride, but here's a place where they were going for $999.00 and maybe they still have some.

There are alot of excellent hardtails out there for less $$$ than that. The name on that particular Specialized is what drives up it's price. Remember, a bike don't make a rider....

Think of it this way, don't you know that the best Pro's can ride the cheapest Kmart specials & still blow 50% of everyone else away? Even if the other's are on the best bikes you can buy.... It's all in the person's abilities. Most people refuse to believe this fact. I hope you're not one of them....

Wheelworld (http://wheelworld.com/site/itemdetails.cfm?ID=1954&Catalog=39&sort=Price) has some 17" & 18" 2002s on sale for $799. The only catch is they say there is a small blemish on the top tube. For that price it might be worth it if it fits you though.
