I turned 50 in February and I've ridden my age! Unfortunately, it took three rides to do it! I'm determined, though. Weather and work schedules have been getting in the way, but I'm hoping that by the end of the month, I'll do a 1/2 century in ONE day!

Just wait till you get above 60- and then you will have it easy. DnvrFox does our Age rides for us.

Shoot, my son did that when he was 10 years old...
No, seriously, congratulations. That's a milestone. Keep after it--you'll be surprised how easy 50 miles will be by the end of summer.

Keep trying.
By the time you are 60 you just might do it.

Definitely keep trying. Brings up an interesting question: Who is the oldest individual to have ever ridden his/her age on a course that began/ended at the same location.

Good question. Some years back, when I was a young whippersnapper of 42, I went on an 80 mile ride for a chap's 80th birthday. I remember it being a difficult ride, even though I was hardly new at the game.

At 57, I'm now doing the long distances.

I am going on 65, have ridden my age several times in the last couple years. My longest ride was 75 miles on an MS ride.
This year I did it in March when I was in Gulf Shores AL.
The more you ride the easier it gets.

That is true.

Checked my ride journal.
76 rides with an average of 71 miles per ride.

I am only 67 y/o

Great goal. And weather and work are ALWAYS going to get in the way

Last year was the first time I kept track of my mileage, 6,060 miles. I rode 287 days, the rest I was out of town or weather was not cooperating.

I believe it was Greg Lemond who said, "It never gets easier, you just get faster."

Good stuff indeed. I'm 63 and rode my age yesterday (A 100K plus a few). Should be able to keep it up for several years as I've just started riding after a multiple-decade layoff.

I'm 56 and have yet done my age but feel I could and will pretty soon, I did however just two days ago on a 22 mile ride have my best average at 18.2 mph. Today I did the same ride and slowed to 17.8. I am pretty stoked about it though. The 18.2 was my best all time average of any ride I have done.

I am planning on doing my age within a month ( or two) so keep tuned. I just need to plan it and figure where to go to get the 56 miles.
