The information on the Performance site indicates that this rear wheel is compatible w/Shimano 8, or 9 speed... no mention of 10 speed.

The Mavic website says that the Shimano compatible version of this rear wheel works with 8,9, or 10 speed.

Is this a typo on Performance's part or are they selling a 2003 model? I have sent them an email but received no reply yet.

Here's the link (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?sku=14842)

SHimano 8, 9, and 10 all fit the same space and spline pattern. The cogs themselves and the space between them are narrower as you put more cogs on.

Thank you, Demon.

I assume this also means that if I put together a 9 speed Shimano bike I would not need to replace/rebuild the hub on this rear wheel if in the future I chose to upgrade to 10 speed?

Correct.
