Seriously, consider:
More hits than the average band of the last fifteen years.
Two examples
I'll Meet You Halfway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLWIg68mXsk&feature=related)
Doesn't somebody want to be wanted (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPhk67-kL1k)
and these are not their biggest hits..........

David Cassidy and even Sean, enjoyed(?) Beatles style hystaria/sellouts/fame
for years. Sort of related, the Monkees were AWESOME ! With people like
Neil Diamond writing their hits, they had some good stuff. Listen to Pleasant
Valley Sunday and it was real protest song that flew under the radar because
it was AM catchy. Great stuff :thumb: Their movie 'Head' would be considered
a classic and into its 50000th printing if it was released by Pink Floyd or a
'real' band instead of them :)

Monkees were a few pegs above the Partridges, but I totally agree with what you're saying. A few people have sporadic success here and there singing other peoples music but few have any substainability. Cassidy was talented and the the music of Neil Diamond is classic.
