Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - I'm inspired

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just wanted to thank those of you that contribute to this forum. I'm a 400+er and was feeling pretty embarrassed to be out riding around in the daylight, until now anyway. It's nice to know I'm not the only guy peddling around a couple hundred extra lbs.

Well I'm not quite 400 but you should know there are plenty of us that feel foolish in lycra!...Thumbs up from me! I'd rather see a big guy riding a bike than playing with the remote!:thumb:
One thing about the cycling world, there are just too many molds to fit! I myself don't fit any of them!:(

Even if you don't lose an ounce of fat, the benefits to your heart, your lungs and your emotional well-being means that you'll get a lot out of it. Besides, riding bikes and working on them is fun, and if anyone tries to steal your bike by pushing you over, just grab them by the shirt and drag them for a block or two as an object lesson in Newtonian Mechanics and momentum.

I admire you guys who get on the bike at a higher weight. I wish I had started sooner. While I was losing the weight I stuck mainly to walking until I got down to 225 or so. Keep it up, and if you get any flak for it, SO WHAT! You are the MAN in my eyes (and I feel like I have a right to say :) )
Edited to add this goes for the women as well, maybe even more so. Truthfully I think I see more larger women on bikes than larger men, which I think is very cool

Well done, fair play to you. Its a barrier alot of people deal with and not just in cycling. Think of the positives and hope they out weigh any negatves floating around. Now why can't i listen to myself? :)

15 year old Bianchi mountain bike. No upgrades just a few replacement parts. Saving for a nice new mountian bike.

I have been waiting to see you Tom I'm back.
Hey don't worry bigparm, lets make this journey together. I am 380 as of this morning. I've pretty much done it all from powerlifting to bodybuilding and I can say without a doubt that cycling is the only thing that has ever taken the weight off of me, but just as Mr Beanz stated, the benefits for your heart and lungs go much farther than just loosing weight.
Good to have ya hear.
