Hmm, there's parking at Sports Basement, no? I wouldn't have to BART it in to Embarcadero... *gears turn*

I'm not familiar with the riding in the North bay. What kind of ride are we looking at here?

Plenty of parking at Sports Basement ... and it has last minute supplies, just in case you forget something. And bathrooms.

I'm actually thinking about taking the train up ... depends what time I wake up.

Great day for a ride. Still arm warmer weather, until we got to some climbing.

Pete showed up with a new toy ... a birthday present. Happy birthday Pete ... old man!

Why is it that everytime a little pup is left out there on its own, it finds a camera's eye?

When I sold my 2 Road bikes and most of my guitar collection for money to put away towards the Aids LifeCycle Ride and when I thought leaving my job was iminent the aftermath of it all left Cathy feeling hurt and sad about my losing all my cherished possesions. Like a true enabling sort after we just got our tax return she announced that I should have a regular fixed gear bike to train on for the ALC ride and I should get it for my birthday...I feel so guilty and un-worthy, but I have another fixed gear bike I'm selling right now to help pay for it. Let's just say I couldn't pass up the chance to get this one. It's my new "Celtic Bike" http://waterfrontbikes.net/id34.html
It was last years model on sale and I got a discount for doing the ALC8 ride from "Sports Basement". I couldn't pass it up.

I got together today with Ron to do the Tiburon Loop, wich is perfect for a fixed gear ride. We had a great ride today. The weather was perfect and It was just us two. Ron was killing me on the downhill sections. I had to pedal and brake at the same time. It's hard to get over 25 MPH. At that point you're in full gerbil on a turnstyle mode.

The bike handles so well and rides...OK I'll say it..."Dreamy!" I love the feel of butterscotch steel. The brakes a superb and the wheels are of really good quality. I had the stock bars changed out for something that was a little less "street aggresive" and more "road bikie" like I'm used to.

Now I'm really torn...I'm not sure which bike I want to use for the ride to LA now? I should use the taxi bike, but man I love this new bike!

Also the paint job is beautiful. It's a very Irish green. It makes me want to take the bike down to the local pub for some fish&chips and a grog. I love how their (SE Bikes) have a beer theme. I had looked at the "Lager" which was nice. There was also the "Draft", but the "Premium Brew" just spoke to me. Between the Green and Kelly gold I was sold!

I'm loving fixed gear cycling. I can say I've really "Drunk The Kool-aid". There is something so organic feeling. I'm even getting to the point of not using my brakes as much and just letting my legs control everything. I can say if you are a bit of a control freak then this is the pastime for you. It's kind of the same feeling you get when swimming naked! I like it.

Lunch at Casa Manana was great. I had the "Frida Kahlo" burrito...yum! I forgot what Ron had, but it was really big! We were overwhelmed with the beautiful woman out riding today, so of course all conversation started and ended with girls.

I had a perfect first day of my birthday...tomorrow is day two of my birthday (Irish bred people have three day birthdays, week long funerals and love affairs that last forever). Day two will consist of doing the Primavera Century, which is always my first century of the year. It will be a great time, with a huge NorCal contingent riding and also doing support. I am so looking forward to it.http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa292/taxi777/Ronhiding.jpg

Great pictures Ron/Pete - sounds a lot nicer than the domestic chores I was working through today. Still, looking forward to catching you tomorrow. Looks like it'll be hot, hot, hot.

Oh yeah, and many happy returns of the day to you Sir Pete. That is a very fine looking ride - hope the chain remains kinda golden for a while.

Well, I'm just about ready to call it quits on even trying to attend group rides. I think I'm just plain cursed!

Looks like I missed out, too. Ah well, once I was convinced I'd yet again missed the boat, I headed down to Woodside for a nice loop down there. It was the same perfect weather punctuated by random fog that you got up there. :)

Happy birthday, Pete. Fine lookin' bicycle you got there. I think it's the same one that caught my eye in Sports Basement today.
