I would think that most people would not want to give up the location of their trails. You spend so much time building them why would you want someone to come out and Possibly ruin them. As far as the Boston ones are concerned, I would be very careful about giving up their location, there aren't many places to build here and it would be crappy to have them bulldozed by the city/mbta.
