I just joined the forum because I have a few of my cycling friends say such good things about this forum!! My name is Mark and I fell in love with cycling when I entered college 4 years ago. I've been a part of Colorado State University Collegiate Cycling team for 3 years! We are hosting the Road National Collegiate Championships this year in Fort Collins! Last year is was a great success and we are very excited for this years!!
Anyways, my friend Kristen and I are graduating from Colorado State University-Fort Collins this May wanted to do something extraordinary to remember our final summer before we get into the real world. We are both passionate and involved with the non-profit organization Invisible Children. Our goal is to bike across America from Oregon to Virginia on the TransAmerica Route this summer to raise awareness and money for and seeing if you would be willing to sponsor our cause?
Invisible Children is an organization that looks to create international attention on the 23 year old civil war that has been occurring in Northern Uganda, which has displaced around 2 million Uganda people from their homes and families. The organization places an emphasis on rescuing N. Ugandan children abducted by a rebel army called Lord Resistance Army. Throughout the years this rebel army has abducted 30,000 Ugandan children that have been raped, tortured, and brainwashed to become killing machines.
The reason we are biking across America this summer is because we are looking to raise $10,000 for Invisible Children’s Schools For Schools Program. This program is the largest-scale project to date addressing the region’s need for improved learning environments and a larger investment in higher education because of the significant damages N. Uganda schools have suffered during this long war. By holistically rebuilding 10 of the most promising secondary schools in the region, Invisible Children Organization is looking beyond the temporary fix of simply putting kids in classrooms, but instead putting them in classrooms that will better prepare them for their future and the future of their country.
How will sponsoring us benefit your company or organization?
We have a website www.biking4invisiblechildren.com which your company’s logo will be placed on the ‘Sponsorship Page’ where you can include a paragraph description of your company and a hyperlink to your website.
Furthermore, if you decide to donate any type of equipment or product we can use along our trip we will recognize it by putting it on the ‘Equipment Page’ of our website. We will have a photo of the product and a detailed description of it. This is an opportunity for your company to include a hyperlink to your online store, so viewers can purchase the same or similar product. The website has been up and running for the past three weeks and is generating traffic. It’s getting about 150 page requests daily and will continue to increase as we promote more.
We have ‘Daily Blog’ page which we will be writing in daily throughout the 12 weeks it will take us to bike across the country. This is a unique opportunity for your company to be included in our daily blog by having us write a review about your donated product or thanking your company for sponsoring us. Also, we will be uploading photos onto our blog, so we can have your company logo featured in the photos.
Lastly, we are looking to make t-shirts and cycling jerseys, so you company logo can be featured on the back. We are doing a lot of promoting throughout April and May on Colorado State University’s campus, so this gives you the chance to have your logo exposed to thousands of college students.
