My 5 year old's bike is wearing out and he's outgrowing it. Has anyone seen a flashy 16" bike that'll cause his eyes to light up while not make his old man go broke for the month?

Are you sure you want a 16"?
My son just turned 4 and rides a 16" and he's already starting to outgrow it.
I may be upgrading him to a 20" within the year.
BTW, I only had training wheels on my son's bike for 4 days. Don't let them get too dependent on them. My buddies kids refuse to take them off after 3 years!
I bought my son a Specialized 16" Hotrock (I think that's the name) for Christmas. I was off work and we practised riding everyday. By New Year's day, he was riding around without training wheels.
I put a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and gloves on my son and told him he was safe. Of course, he was still a little scared. So, (this sounds mean, but it worked), I pushed him "gently" to the ground. I told him, "see that didn't hurt, now let's try riding your bike, that's worse than falling on your bike."
O.k., typing that I realize that seems cruel, but it worked for my son. He's ALL boy, but is always apprehensive about new things. Once he does something, he's all non-stop.
Good Luck!

Dexmax, now that's a nice kids bike. Thanks for the info on Free Agent bikes they have a good selection of neat looking bikes and there's a dealer just up the road.
A2p, my boy is short for his age and I don't think a 20" will work but I'll look at them. He's off the training wheels and you're right the quicker you can get them off training wheels the easier they learn.
