This was posted to the 50+ Forum a couple of weeks ago, but some folks here might like it, and since in another thread I've extended an offer to host Clydes and Athenas who wish to sample PA riding.... well, consider this the sales pitch.

For my first ride in two weeks, I put in 18 miles in Oley Township, PA. This small Berks County area had itself named a historic district a few years ago, which will hopefully prevent it from becoming the sort of Amish Disneyworld that nearby Lancaster County devolved into. Here's what the township is trying to preserve:

Oley is great for cycling: low traffic roads in good condition, drivers who are used to cyclists, rolling hills that are a lot more gentle than most of the surrounding area, and lovely scenery. A 50+ member of my local bike club in Phoenixville rode with me for a bit more than 15 miles. Rod is one tough dude. I hope to ride with him again.

There was a stiff wind at times, but otherwise the weather was all we can ask of a Pennsylvania April. I was reminded of Isaiah 6:3 - "And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory." I tried to capture some of that glory in my photos.
