Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - I think San Francisco is the top 5 cities on my list to live in

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Came back from SF yesterday and thought I'd post up some pics from our cycling trip we took on Thursday with some rented bikes. Note to myself for next time: Take my own saddle. The saddles on the rentals sucked, hard. Way too mushy.
Bikes were Trek 5200 for me and a cruiser for my wife.
So we went from the Fisherman's Wharf over the Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito and close to Mill Valley before we turned around and hit the Ferry, since my wife's butt couldn't take it no mo'. I could have gone on and on, since butt pain doesn't bother me as much as bonking during a century ride.
So it was 15 miles we got into our legs and the weather was just beautiful. Sunny and 52 degrees. Lot's of roadies and even a 3 man training group passed us, where the wife mentioned "I bet you'd love to chase and work with that group, right?" I'd crack a knowing smile but let her know that today is not the day since she was with me

So on to some of the pics I took.

Rental place close to Fisherman's Wharf.

Size matters when you have to carry significant weight.

That's right. Sign says it all.

Next time I'm going back to SF I think I'm going to buy a travel case for my Madone and go riding on my own bike. So much to see and the climbing just inside the city is enormous. Those are some steep streets.

Great pictures! Glad you enjoyed your visit. The San Francisco Bay area is diverse in almost any respect one can imagine: weather (micro-climates), topography, culture, .... I live 100 miles south of San Francisco and love riding in the country on quiet roads. The "hills" surrounding the valley provide reasonable challenge for those so inclined (3000' plus) and the Sierra Mountains are not far away. Coastal hills provide cooler climate and challenging climbing. Finally, the coast itself with its stunning seascapes. You could ride in California your entire life not exhaust the sights. You'all come.

Nice pics, but I guess we're keeping the balance, as SF is on my top 5 list of cities I'll never live in! :D
