bought this last fri. at a yard sale. $30. a beautiful bike. the hoods have atrophied and the seat fell victim to a dog, otherwise it's like new. if i lived someplace flatter i'd probably keep it. as it is, i'll probably ebay it. how much?
thanks.

Around here; the steel frames only go $100-150.....guess it depends where you are at. West coast certainly is a more commanding market. Good luck with the sale!

High ten steel frame holds the value down quite a bit to any sophisticated buyers. Not sure you will get much on ebay. Shipping will approach total value. I would probably sell it locally, as clean as it is, you might get $150 for it, despite the shortcomings. You can find replacement hoods at niagara cycle works for about $7. Pick up a take off seat at your local dealer, or find one at a thrift store, and the bike is ready to sell.

The high-ten frame is a pretty solid barrier BUT I think the condition pushes it a bit higher than the norm.

I would give it a really good cleaning (which should be really easy considering how great the starting point is). Then take it outside and take some really nice showcase photographs and use large photos on CL. I think you could fetch 200.00 on craigslist pretty easily despite the frame materials.

I think with a really well done ebay ad could net more than 200.00 but you are taking a real risk with a lower end bike in an auction.

Where are you in east TN? Just curious 'cause I'm in Knoxville.

FWIW, I've seen these bikes (varying frames mat'ls & all pretty much lousy photos or no photos in the ads) go for between $40-100, but the prices mentioned above sound fair for the condition and with a reasonable presentation. The low data point in that range is a late '80s LT (not as shiney, but has a Stronglight crankset & FD/RD that probably came from a nice Peugeot of the era) I got about 6 months ago with 4130 tubing for $40. It had no picture in the ad and the seller took a couple days to respond. Of course, the response was a pleasant surprise. That said, $150-175 sounds about right if it's mechanically all good (lubed bearings in crank/headset, wheels good, everything lubed & adjusted correctly).

Holy cow! That's almost inspiring. And I was thinking flipping bikes wasn't worth the hassle.....
